Among all offerings, the lamp holds a special significance. A lamp represents light, as it has the power to dispel all darkness.
In worldly terms, light illuminates the dark, helping us see things clearly, easing our fears, and guiding us along a clear path.
In terms of the Buddha’s teachings, wisdom is like light. The reason we suffer and lack happiness is because we do not have the wisdom to see the true nature of suffering and joy, nor do we understand their causes. Thus, the wisdom of the Dharma is like a lamp—once the lamp is lit, the darkness in the room disappears.
“Sutra Spoken by the Buddha to Elder Shuka on the Differences in Karmic Retribution” has recorded that:
If sentient beings offer lamps, they will receive ten kinds of merits as follows:
Illuminate the world like a lamp.
Wherever they are reborn, their physical eyes remain unharmed.
They will attain the divine (heavenly) eye.
They will gain wisdom to discern good and evil.
Great darkness will be dispelled.
They will obtain the light of wisdom.
In the cycle of rebirth, they will never dwell in places of darkness.
They will possess great blessings and fortune.
At the end of life, they will be reborn in a good realm.
Any surplus of the offerings will be transferred to our donation box for Dharma Propagation as well as to help those in need so that the merits from your donation will grow endlessly.
Blessing names will be listed. KLSEL BFM reserves the final right to make changes to the blessing names if they are not written according to the proposed format.
