护生 Life Liberation

法会当日放鸟自由。

《药师琉璃光如来本愿功德经》中提到，若有众生造了种种罪恶，佛劝说点燃四十九灯、造长寿幡、放生修福，就能度过苦厄，不遭灾难。护生修福功德殊胜，积累得越多，就越会使自己处在善法光明的护佑当中，远离横祸灾难，使生命获得保障。

Release birds on the day of puja.  

It is said in The Sutra of Medicine Buddha that, If sentient beings have done many evil deeds, Buddha advised to light up 49 lamps, build longevity streamer, release captive lives and cultivate various merits. This way, one would be able to transcend these difficulties and be free from disasters. The more merits and virtues you accumulate through protecting lives, the more you will put yourself under the blessing of the good Dharma and keep yourself safe from disasters and calamities.
